Guys I totally love this series, this video specifically as I am a materials science engineering student I got really exited for heat treatments and forging, but I think your original style of visiting 3 places is much better

Just returned from the 2019 Blade Show. Surprised (but shouldn’t have been) that those knives are made by stock removal rather than hand forging. A question, materials science students: Any guess on how much that knife would cost if you just bought it in a store? Because no one wants to watch the video it seems, dude priced the knife that way so people wouldn't steal them from the restaurant. If you steal something in California worth more than $950, it's grand theft. Jesus.

  • Jeremy w 6 days ago

It's not about stealing, its more of a gimmick. You can purchase those knives from the restaurant as well.

  • jt3483 1 months ago

Yeah, I wasn't paying enough attention when he said that so didn't get it. Immediately when they explained the forging process, the price didn't make any sense at all.
