iPhone XS & XS Max Review: Do You Need to Upgrade? | WIRED

  • WIRED's Lauren Goode reviews the latest iPhone models -- the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max -- and tests the battery life, camera and video capabilities. CORRECTION, Sept. 19, 5:00 PM EST: The video above misstated the water rating for the iPhone XS and XS Max. While the IP68 standard states that devices must be waterproof to more than 1 meter, Apple's new phones are waterproof up to 2 meters for up to 30 minutes.Still haven’t subscribed to WIRED on YouTube? ►► http://wrd.cm/15fP7B7 ABOUT WIREDWIRED is where tomorrow is realized. Upgrading costs money. If it really isn’t that necessary, you don’t have to it.
Edit: It’s up to you, it’s your life

Not upgrading until 2020. I have both the iPhone X and 6s in addition to an iPad Pro. I'm starting to think Apple and others are hitting a wall. All the low hanging fruits have been picked and its just coasting now. My brother is still rocking a iPhone 5s and he seems pretty happy with it. I guess if you want bragging rights, that might be the reason to upgrade.

One thing no one seems to be mentioning is that Apple actually did a good thing by not adding a better camera on the XS Max version, essentially forcing us to choose the larger phone like in the past with all their Plus models. I currently am on a 6S Plus only because of the better camera otherwise I would have gone with a phone that actually Fit in my pocket and hand. Long story short, I’m glad we have options now without sacrificing anything quality wise.

Them are both pretty nice, but even if I have a 6S Plus I don't consider the upgrade that necessary. 🤓👍🏻

Lauren Goode back at it again :D And as expected of her she delivers! The HDR part on its own deserves a like, had the same thoughts!

Is it just me (and my computer), or does the color seem off with this video? Lauren's skin tone looks zombie-ish.

I still use my iphone 6 and loving it. I think in recent years, upgrading isn’t as necessary anymore especially if the user only use it for basic gaming, social media, or photography.

Correction: Apple achieved a higher classification within IP68 than the S9/Note 9 - resistant to 2M of water compared to 1.5 for Samsung👍

They’re great phones. But your correct phone works fine, and you don’t need to spend 1000$ on a smartphone.

That 1000 dollar price tag you are just paying for the apple logo and maybe the camera.
