I wish this clip as short as possible. RIP everyone.
David Marks- The one popularity contest, no one wants to win.
I wish they stopped doing this clip because it's always an uncomfortable judgement call on who's included and who's left out. And the variation of applause per person is the weird final word in the fame popularity contest.
Having Aretha portrait & vocals on the Memorial Tribute was an emotional touch....Thank You 💘
Ya know, I’ve always considered Whitney to be the best female vocalist of all time, but I’ve really begun to appreciate Aretha more in her passing, and I’m no longer so sure. You’re right; was a really nice touch!
after7pm yeah it was very beautiful
Lazytown is not on the emmy map, apparently
Fraggle Rock should have been and never was
maybe the daytime emmy map
Even in death you're competing for applause.
moon glow The claps you hear are from the audio recording of Aretha singing. Most of them are not from the Emmy Award audience.
+Salar Bakht what???
I'm sure they missed several memorable passings, but no Margot Kidder? She actually won an Emmy, no? Harlan Ellison was a prolific TV writer.
wow I didn't consider Kidder. Probably the same reason they didn't include Verne Troyer because they think of her more for movies than tv
i just realized how odd it is to see tina fey speaking without making a big joke. it feels like there's a missing punchline or a silly dance somewhere and then you remember its the in memoriam speech.
Her hair looked like she did it in a hurry..
I don't think any of the presenters volunteer for this part. Name is probably picked at random and then you never have to do it again.
The tentative applause of the audience throughout the whole tribute is shameful!
Frankly, it would be most respectful if everybody in audience would stay silent; a memoriam is supposed to be honorable reflection and not a popularity contest at a high school graduation.
It is not the least respectful to only applaud for some people shown in the compilation and be quiet for others! I guess, it is you having a heard time interpreting emotional reactions.
Still sad about John mahoney

Joanna Gage ?
When I saw Anthony Bourdain, my heart jump and it started to cry. He was the badboy chef, the traveler, so us.
What about Kate spade
Where's my dear Friend & Mentor, *ROBIN LEACH*??! He was kind, sophisticated, genuine & a true gentleman. Rest In Paradise💖
Beth Downey Thank you.
There was another "In Memoriam" for the Creative Emmys the week before (aired on FX two nights before the Primetime ones). He was included in that along with other "behind the scenes" folks. Agreed though he should have been in this one, frankly in John McCain's place. I can only assume he was included because Lorne Michaels produced the award show and had McCain on SNL a couple of times.
