I went in here thinking I'd be laughing at how stupid it would be. But the reason why they're doing it makes sense. The fact that they have to go through such absurd means to protect Lake Erie says volumes about how bad the EPA is at their job...

This is actually very sensible. Making the lake a person means that you can't technically harm it anymore. Wow.

Why not they gave multimillion-dollar corporations the right to be people cuz they paid off the politicians.Nature keeps us alive and feeds us all it has more of a right to be a person then a Corporation.

    This is sad.
Laws to protect nature’s right to life should’ve been passed a long time ago

I don't give a damn how it's done, as long as nature is protected.
If giving a lake the rights of a person is the way to go, lets give the entire planet those rights.

I live on Lake Erie (20 mins east of Cleveland), and when I saw this title, I thought "omg, what nonsense is this". But after watching - this is an excellent idea. The Lake dominates our weather, our drinking water, our way of life. We should be treating it like the precious resource it is.

Ok for all that size, the lake still gets only ONE vote!

You should make the Lake a Canadian citizen. You know, since it already has a health issue. They have him covered at least.

The government doesn't seem to care about our life giving water. Guess it's up to the people!

Someone should have told him before he got married: Lake Erie gets around.

If corporations can be people, why can't lakes?

They did it for a river & a national park forest in New Zealand, and even trying for a mountain. So good luck Lake Erie!

Great move. Too many people depend on the lake for their survival to let greed kill it.
